		<description>Lily, it&#039;s great that you got that wallet and family photos back. I think most people would do the right thing if they found a lost wallet or purse.

About 10 years ago a friend of mine had her purse stolen in a restaurant in NYC. It came back in the mail a month or so later with a note saying it was found tossed in some bushes. Nothing was missing except the cash.

My wallet has not been returned yet. If it was left in the cab I would have heard something by now. If it fell onto the street it could be weeks, months, or never before it&#039;s returned.

I&#039;ve returned my share of lost items over the years--2 pocketbooks, a cell phone, and one wallet--so I&#039;m hoping to get my wallet back.

It&#039;s not the credit cards and DMV stuff I&#039;m concerned about, it&#039;s all the other stuff I had in there that is going to be very hard to replace.

Before we left that morning I had the thought to clear out my wallet and just take what I needed with me, but I got distracted with other things. I should have paid more attention to that little voice.

BTW, If you leave something in a NYC taxi just dial 311 to submit a claim and they&#039;ll call you if it&#039;s returned. If you know the medallion number of the cab you were in (I didn&#039;t get a receipt, so out of luck) they&#039;ll contact that cab immediately.</description>

I was completely unaware until I got home! Approximately 3 months later someone sent it back to me in the mail. I was very happy because I had some old family photos inside that were still there.</description>
