Stony Brook Harbor used to be loaded with them(the early 1960s). They were so hungry there that you caught them on the bottom while fishing for flounders. Another spot that was good was off the sandbars of Shinnecock bay. The place was loaded with schools of snappers(1960s). Those baby bluefish will take a nip at your finger if you are not careful.
